Introduce your students to agriculture this year! Take a field trip to our LOCAL, family run dairy farm. Farming with passion since 1999, we believe in natural, sustainable practices on our small commercial dairy. Take learning beyond the classroom and back to the farm! </FONT> </P> <P><FONT SIZE="+1">PROGRAM OVERVIEW<br> A visit to the Aldor Acres Dairy Centre, located in Langley, (only 45 minutes from Vancouver), will offer many hands on opportunities while learning about our high Canadian food standards. Our dairy program will take every visitor on a 90 minute adventure into the life of a normal dairy farm kid, and adult too! All will have the chance to Milk a Cow By Hand, Make Butter, and Feed the Cows! All while learning about the flow of milk from cow to table, dairy products and nutrition! Older students? Just ask how we can customize your tour. Program focus can be centered around Farm technology, sustainability and environment, nutrition, or even reproduction?.many things can be learned on a farm!</FONT></P> <P><FONT SIZE="+1">All tours start with a short video presentation designed to educate and entertain. Tours then gather in the main theatre to view and participate in part of our regular commercial milking. During this segment visitors can 'vote with vigour' on which cow will give the most milk! Our very special cow 'Fernie' joins the team for all to hand milk and take photos with. Once everyone has had a good squeeze it's time to make butter. Leaving the theatre we move to the barn to learn about the basic needs of cows. Calf and cow feeding, always a highlight, follows with a question and answer period. Moving back to the start point, the program is finished up with a fun quiz, chocolate milk samples and activity books to go home. Tours are fully guided, completely indoors and available year round.
